Rabbi Moses Weiler arrived in South Africa in August 1933 and immediately shook up the Jewish community by launching a Progressive movement - against intense opposition. Charismatic and driven, he proved unexpectedly successful for some 25 years. Then he made aliyah and encountered tragedy: the death of two sons in Israel's wars.
